My Story: Faith, Healing & Brain-Based Health Challenges

Welcome! This is me. I have a deep, faith-filled relationship with Jesus Christ. But I also have struggled with my own brain-based health issues. I am not ashamed of that. Sure, there was a time that I was. If you are in the same boat as me, you probably struggle with that too. It’s okay to not be okay. You get to know about me in this section, I share my journey and challenges openly.

Education, Perspective, and a Heart for People

I am a doctor…but not a “real” doctor. Don’t ask for my advice on why women grow chin-hair during menopause or why boys going through puberty have the smell of rotting feet. I’m just as clueless as you might be. Truthfully, I have my Doctorate in Education. However, I am really just a passionate, deep-thinking person, with a quirky sense of humor, who is looking to make a difference in other people’s lives. This personal mental health blog reflects my passion for learning, growth, and human connection.

Motherhood, Growth, and Life Lessons

I’m a mid-fifties year old woman, who has been blessed to help raise three wonderful adult men (all with their own unique challenges). Being a mom is the greatest gift from God. I am not perfect, and I sure do make mistakes. However, they have taught me a level of love, hope, and patience that I probably wouldn’t have learned any other way. Truth is that I can be a bit strong headed.

Why I Write Personal Mental Health Blogs

I have a story to share. You do too. We are all life-long learners (something I learned from my dad). While high tech and social media have left us feeling more alone than ever, the internet allows me to touch people beyond my social circle or community. What I share, I share from the heart. I choose courage over doubt, healing over sickness, and an undying willingness to stand in the stadium of vulnerability rather than staying on the couch in shame. It’s okay to not be okay. Yet aren’t we all seeking peace and joy? Me too.
